About
Airman Our Pal is the artist name for the sample-based electronic music of Paul Marinaro.
Sound
Airman's palette consists of organic sounds: acoustic instruments, orchestras, field recordings from far off places, sounds rare and familiar. Part archivist, part arranger, and part composer, Airman dissects recorded material in order to bring new life to it, whether by looping or isolating pitches, or offering them re-harmonized and re-arranged. His goal is to make something sublime through a carefully orchestrated collage of sound.
Accolades
One of Airman's tracks was previously released on a compilation called "Six Records Breaks Your Heart Again" in 2002 (Track 8: "Shelther" [now called "Shelter"]). In March 2003 Time Out New York Magazine (pg. 133) wrote ""Most of the time, though, the collection offers gratifyingly alert chill-out tracks from Airman Our Pal..."
Airman also received some praise for his remix of Home Video's "Superluminal," which was featured on The Fast Life (thefastlife.org) blog.
